WhatsApp sales agent · Revenue play
A WhatsApp agent that closes. Not a chatbot that deflects.
Depra is not a WhatsApp chatbot. It's a sales agent that happens to work on WhatsApp — qualifies leads, recommends products, and closes the checkout, without flow trees or human escalation.
The distinction
Chatbot vs. sales agent — the shape is different.
A chatbot
- Sends canned messages along a predefined flow.
- Deflects the question if the template didn't anticipate it.
- Routes anything unfamiliar to a human shared inbox.
- Measured on containment — how often it kept the customer out of the queue.
- Fails the moment the buyer asks something creative.
A sales agent
- Reasons about the conversation live — no flow tree.
- Pulls real cart, order, and catalog data in the moment.
- Negotiates shipping, sizing, timing, and returns objections.
- Measured on closed revenue — not on deflection rate.
- Escalates to a human only when the math actually requires it.
Revenue plays
Three plays Depra ships day one.
Lead qualification
Every inbound WhatsApp message — from a Meta ad, website widget, or referral — gets picked up within 30 seconds. The agent qualifies against your ICP (budget, timeline, fit), books the next action (call, demo, or order), and writes the CRM entry. Your team only sees qualified leads.
Product recommendation
Customer asks "do you have this in XL?" or "which one is better for oily skin?" — the agent queries your live catalog, pulls the match, sends the product card with images and price, and offers to add to cart. It's a guided sell, not a search bar.
Checkout close
Secure, single-tap checkout links generated per-conversation. The agent handles the COD/prepaid choice, applies loyalty or first-buyer discounts where authorized, and confirms the order when payment clears. Shopify, WooCommerce, custom — all native.
Integrations
Lives natively in the stack D2C brands already run.
Shopify
Native app. Orders, carts, catalog, customers, discounts — all flow in automatically. Install in 60 seconds from the App Store.
WooCommerce
Native plugin. Syncs products, cart events, customers, and orders. Compatible with subscription plugins and membership gates.
Klaviyo
Two-way sync. WhatsApp conversations feed back into Klaviyo profiles; Klaviyo segments power Depra campaigns. Flows trigger across channels.
Plus Gorgias, Zendesk, Segment, Mailchimp, Postscript, Shiprocket, Razorpay, Stripe, and 30+ more. REST API and webhooks for everything else.
FAQ
What D2C teams ask before they ship.
Why call it a sales agent instead of a WhatsApp chatbot?+
Because "chatbot" is a containment tool and "sales agent" is a revenue tool. The architecture is different: a chatbot follows a flow; an agent reasons. The KPI is different: containment vs. closed revenue. The ceiling is different — chatbots cap out at what the designer anticipated; agents scale with the LLM behind them. D2C teams that bought WhatsApp chatbots in 2022–23 are moving to agents in 2026 because the unit economics changed.
Can it handle long, messy conversations — or just transactional ones?+
Long, messy, multi-thread. The agent maintains per-customer memory across sessions, pulls live order and catalog data into every reply, and can hold a 40-message thread about fit, returns, delivery, and payment without losing context. Our average resolved conversation is 12–18 messages.
What's the difference between Depra's WhatsApp agent and Intercom's Fin, or Drift?+
Those are chat-support agents built for B2B SaaS — excellent at their job, not built for D2C commerce conversations. Depra is built around product catalogs, orders, carts, returns, and payment links, with native WhatsApp Business API rather than a web widget bolted onto WhatsApp. Different shape of tool for a different shape of revenue.
Does it work on WhatsApp Business API, or the free WhatsApp Business app?+
Business API only — that's the layer that supports programmatic messaging, verified senders, template management, and compliance. Free WhatsApp Business app doesn't expose the API. Depra provisions the BSP setup for you if you don't already have one; typical go-live is 7–10 days end-to-end.
Will the customer know they're talking to AI?+
You choose. Most D2C brands on Depra disclose "AI agent" in the first message and find it improves trust rather than hurting conversion — buyers know what they're dealing with and engage more directly. A minority run unlabeled. Either way, we comply with WhatsApp Business Policy and local disclosure requirements (EU AI Act, CA SB-1001, etc.).
How do handoffs to humans work when they're needed?+
The agent escalates with full conversation context to a configured shared inbox (Gorgias, Zendesk, Freshdesk, or Depra's built-in inbox). The human sees the summary, recommended action, and outstanding questions — no need to read the 40-message back-thread.
What's the typical cost per conversation?+
Per-conversation pricing scales with volume, published live on depra.ai/pricing. For context, the total (Meta WhatsApp fee + Depra per-conversation fee) typically lands 20–40% below the loaded cost of a human agent handling the same conversation, and 2–4× the cost of a template-based chatbot that doesn't close.
