Depra AI is AI visibility tracking software for brands in India. It checks how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention your brand, in English and Hinglish, from ₹1,999 a month.

Depra is built in India and sold as self-serve software. Every plan starts with 7 days free and no card, and your first scan starts at signup.

Why we started Depra

Depra started inside a D2C brand. Ifham Baig ran one in India, and running a consumer brand teaches you to watch every place a sale can start: Google, marketplaces, Instagram, a friend’s recommendation. Then a new place appeared. Buyers began typing questions like "best face wash for oily skin under ₹500" into ChatGPT and Gemini, and the answer named two or three brands.

For a brand owner that answer is the new shelf, and there was no way to see it. You could track a Google ranking to the decimal, but nothing told you whether an AI assistant recommended you, which competitor it picked instead, or which website it trusted when it decided. Ifham was already interested in AI, and this was the gap he wanted to close: a tool a D2C team could use to see those answers and act on them. He built Depra with co-founder Zia Wasi.

Depra is made in India, on purpose. We want India to lead in AI and to build the tools the rest of the world uses, starting with a problem Indian brands feel first. Indian buyers ask in Hinglish, pay in rupees and shop on Indian sites, so Depra tracks questions in English and Hinglish, prices every plan in rupees, and asks the AI engines from inside the country you sell in.

The same idea shapes the research. Our first study found that asking the same buying question in Hinglish instead of English changed which brands the AI engines recommended, most of all on Perplexity. The data and code are open on GitHub, so anyone can check the numbers and build on them. Read the English vs Hinglish AI shopping study.

What does Depra AI do?

Depra takes the questions your buyers ask AI, such as "best body balm under ₹3,000", and asks them to four AI engines from inside the country you sell in. It stores every full answer and records whether your brand was named, in what order, in what tone, and which websites the answer cited.

Each tracked question is called a prompt. You pick the prompts and competitors, and Depra turns the stored answers into scores you can compare over time. See every Depra feature for the full list.

  • Four engines. ChatGPT with web search, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, the AI-written summary Google shows above some results, are checked daily. Perplexity is checked weekly on every plan.
  • English and Hinglish. Hinglish is Hindi and English typed in English letters, the way most Indians ask ('sabse accha protein powder kaunsa hai'). Depra suggests Hinglish versions of your prompts when India is one of your markets.
  • 40 markets. India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and 29 other European countries, 6 Gulf countries and Australia, with up to 10 markets per project.
  • Competitors and sources. You see how often AI names each tracked competitor, your share of voice (your share of all brand mentions in those answers), and the websites that recommend your competitors but never mention you.
  • Next steps. Depra ranks up to 12 places to get mentioned and up to 12 page formats to publish on your own site. It also checks which of 41 AI crawlers your robots.txt file, the file that tells bots what they may read, lets in.

Who is Depra for?

Depra is for brands that sell in India, Indian brands that sell abroad, and the agencies that run AI search work for them.

Starter at ₹1,999 a month covers one brand with 20 prompts and 3 competitors. Scale pools 180 prompts across 25 projects, which fits an agency with several clients. Client reports can carry your own logo, accent colour and footer, and you save them as a PDF from the browser.

Is Depra an agency?

No. Depra is self-serve software. You set up your brand, prompts and competitors, and the app runs the checks, stores the answers and ranks what to do next.

Agencies that want to run AI visibility work for clients on Depra can apply to the Depra agency partner programme. The partner directory is opening with a founding cohort of ten agencies, and every listing will be a real agency working on the platform.

What research does Depra publish?

Depra publishes open research, with data and code, on how AI engines answer buyers in India. The first study asked 10 buying questions (5 skincare, 5 fashion) in English and in Hinglish, 8 times each, to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity from inside India. That produced 480 answers, with fieldwork on 14 August 2026.

One result: Gemini cited sources in 90.0% of English answers and 41.3% of Hinglish answers. Read the English vs Hinglish AI shopping study, check the study data and code on GitHub, or see all Depra research.

How does Depra calculate its scores?

Scores come only from stored answers. Your report shows a 95% confidence range for visibility, the band the true figure most likely sits in, and the number of answers behind it.

Prompts that already contain your brand name are left out of your scores by default, so a brand cannot score well by asking about itself. The full method, including what Depra does not track, is on how Depra measures AI visibility.
