An AI visibility tool is software that asks AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask, and records whether, where and how each answer names your brand. The best AI visibility tools in 2026 depend on your situation: Profound, Scrunch or Rankscale if you need many AI engines, Otterly for a $29 start with 4 engines included, the Semrush, Ahrefs or SE Ranking add-ons if you already use that suite, and Depra if your buyers are in India and ask in English and Hinglish.
A few terms first. Hinglish is Hindi-English typed in English letters, the way most Indians ask ("sabse accha protein powder kaunsa hai"). Google AI Overviews are the AI-written summaries above normal Google results, and Google AI Mode is Google's separate chat-style search mode. The questions a tool tracks are called prompts, and the web pages an answer links to are called citations.
Every tool on this page tracks prompts and brand mentions. They differ on which engines they check, which countries they ask from, which languages they support and what they cost per engine. Disclosure: Depra publishes this list and is included in it. Tools are listed A to Z, and every competitor fact links to the vendor's own page, read on 15 Sep 2026.

How we picked and checked these tools
This list covers 12 leading AI visibility optimization tools. We included tools whose main job, or a paid module, is tracking how AI answers mention a brand, that publish a price or a self-serve plan, and that come up when buyers compare this category. We added Ahrefs, SE Ranking and Surfer because many teams already pay for those suites and ask whether the AI add-on is enough.
Every competitor fact on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing, product or help pages, read on 15 Sep 2026 and linked next to the fact. These entries are not hands-on tests: we read public pages and did not sign up for competitor trials. Where a page did not state something, the table says "Not published". Where a vendor's own pages disagree, we say so.
Disclosure: Depra publishes this list and is included in it. Tools are listed A to Z, so the order is not a score. Depra is our pick for Indian brands. It is not the best fit for every team, and its section lists what it does not track.
Ahrefs Brand Radar: best for researching any brand at scale
Ahrefs Brand Radar looks up how AI answers mention any brand across a large prompt database that Ahrefs runs, and also tracks prompts you write, called Custom Prompts. The product page names AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, with Claude on higher plans, and offers a free start with Custom Prompts without stating the free limits (Ahrefs Brand Radar, checked 15 Sep 2026).
Custom Prompts are included in paid Ahrefs plans: 5 tracked AI prompts on Lite at $129 a month, 10 on Standard at $249 and 20 on Advanced at $449. Bigger Custom Prompt packages cost $50 a month for 2,500 checks, $100 for 7,000 and $250 for 25,000, where one check is one prompt on one platform in one location. The research view, Brand Radar AI, starts at $199 a month (Ahrefs pricing). The pages we checked do not list countries, languages or a trial length.
- Pick it if you want to research competitors' AI mentions without writing prompts first, or you already pay for Ahrefs and 5 to 20 tracked prompts are enough.
- Skip it if you need a published India location, Hinglish, or a price under $199 a month for the research view.
AthenaHQ: best for trying many models on free credits
AthenaHQ prices by credits, and its pricing page says 1 credit buys 1 AI response. The free Essential tier comes with $25 of credit, 300 credits in total, covering ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. Starter costs $295 a month on monthly billing for 3,600 credits a month across 11 models, including AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral (AthenaHQ pricing, checked 15 Sep 2026).
Enterprise adds support for several regions and languages, persona targeting for specific audience groups, and SSO, which lets staff sign in through the company's own login system. The AthenaHQ homepage does not name India or Hinglish.
- Pick it if you want to test many AI models on 300 free responses before you pay.
- Skip it if you need region or language targeting below an Enterprise contract.
Depra: the India pick for English and Hinglish
Depra asks your buyers' questions to four AI engines from inside your chosen country and stores every full answer. It captures the answers real people see in ChatGPT, with web search on, and in Gemini, plus the Google AI Overview on a real Google results page. Those three run daily. Perplexity, through its Sonar model with live web search, runs weekly.
For each answer Depra records whether it named you, in what order, in what tone and which web pages it cited. Questions that already contain your brand name are left out of your score by default. You see your share of voice, which is your share of all brand mentions in your category's answers, against 3 to 20 competitors depending on plan. Depra also lists the websites that recommend your competitors but never mention you and ranks up to 12 places to get mentioned and up to 12 page formats to publish in an AI action plan.
Languages and markets: English and Hinglish on every plan, and any of 40 markets, including India, the US, the UK, 6 Gulf countries and Australia. Your report shows English and Hinglish visibility side by side, with a confidence range, which tells you how much a score could move by chance given the number of answers behind it.
Price: Starter ₹1,999 a month (20 prompts, 1 project, 3 competitors), Growth ₹7,499 (100 prompts, 3 projects, 10 competitors), Scale ₹12,499 (180 prompts across 25 projects) and Enterprise ₹25,000, invoiced. Prices exclude 18% GST and come with a GST invoice. Starter produces about 1,900 AI answers a month at full use in one market. Every plan starts with 7 days free and no card (Depra pricing).
What Depra does not track: Google AI Mode, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Hindi in Devanagari script. It has no alerts, team seats or public API today, and city-level location is not offered.
- Pick it if your buyers are in India, you want Hinglish answers measured next to English ones, and you budget in rupees with a GST invoice.
- Skip it if you need Google AI Mode, Claude or Copilot, several team logins, or Perplexity checked daily.

All 12 tools on this page name ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on some plan. The catch is the plan. What is the best AI visibility tool for Indian brands?
For Indian brands, the best AI visibility tool asks questions from inside India, tracks Hinglish next to English, and bills in rupees. Depra does all three on every plan from ₹1,999 a month plus GST, across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Pallix is the other India-based tool on this list, from ₹2,499 a month, with Microsoft Copilot on its Growth plan.
Language changes the answer. In Depra's study of 480 answers asked from inside India, using 10 skincare and fashion buying questions in English and Hinglish, the list of brands named changed by 2.2 points in ChatGPT, 7.8 in Gemini and 23.4 in Perplexity, beyond the change you get from asking the same question again. A tool that checks only English questions can miss what Hinglish shoppers see.
Read the Hinglish vs English AI shopping study, see how Depra tracks Hinglish AI visibility, or compare tools for consumer brands in the best AI visibility tools for D2C brands.
Gemini cited sources in 90.0% of English answers and 41.3% of Hinglish answers to the same buying questions. (Depra Hinglish vs English study, fieldwork 14 Aug 2026)
How to choose an AI visibility tool
Start from where your buyers are and what you will do with the numbers. Then check these five points on the plan you can afford, since most tools cap engines, prompts and countries by plan.
- Engines, and how answers are captured. List the AI assistants your buyers use and check each one is on your plan. Then ask how answers are collected. Answers from the consumer apps people use, such as chatgpt.com, can differ from answers returned by a developer API. Depra captures ChatGPT and Gemini from their web apps, and Peec AI says it uses the web interface for most engines.
- Locations. Check that the tool asks from inside your buyers' country and names that country on its pricing or help pages. Answers differ by country, and a check run from abroad can name brands your buyers cannot order.
- Languages. If your buyers ask in Hinglish or another language, check that the tool tracks it and reports each language separately.
- What to fix next. A score alone does not tell you what to do. Look for the websites AI cites when it names your competitors, a ranked list of places to get mentioned and pages to publish, and a check on whether AI crawlers can read your site. Depra checks 41 AI crawlers against your robots.txt, the file that tells bots which pages they may read (AI crawler checker).
- Cost per engine and per answer. Compare what the entry plan buys. Profound Starter gives 50 prompts on 1 engine and 1,500 responses a month for $99 billed yearly. Otterly Lite gives 15 prompts on 4 engines for $29. Depra Starter gives 20 prompts on 4 engines, about 1,900 answers a month in one market, for ₹1,999 plus GST.
Which platform excels in AI visibility metrics?
We did not run hands-on tests, so this page does not rank platforms on metric accuracy. Pick the platform that reports the metrics you will act on, from enough answers to trust. Four numbers cover most decisions. Visibility is the share of answers that name you. Share of voice is your share of all brand mentions against competitors. Average position is where you land when the answer lists options. Sentiment is whether the answer describes you positively, neutrally or negatively.
Then ask each vendor two questions: do prompts that already contain your brand name count toward the score, since those inflate it, and how many answers sit behind each number. Depra reports all four metrics, leaves branded questions out by default, and its report shows a confidence range for visibility by engine.
What is the best AI search optimization platform for beginners?
Pick a tool that suggests the questions to track, so you do not start from a blank page, and a short trial with no card. Depra drafts 5 topics with 8 buying questions each, none naming your brand, and your first scan starts at signup. For a low-cost start in dollars, the AthenaHQ free tier gives 300 AI responses, Rankscale Essentials starts at $20 a month and Otterly Lite costs $29. See how AI visibility tracking works before you choose.
