The free AI audit shows whether AI names your brand when buyers ask about what you sell. Depra AI asks 5 buyer questions on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Then it shows who gets named and which websites get cited.
The form asks for a website and a work email. There is no signup and no card. Your report opens on its own page. When the report is ready, the page may show the top of it and ask for a phone number before it shows the rest.
What does the free AI audit do?
It runs one check of your brand on four AI engines, in four steps. Google AI Overviews are the AI summaries Google shows above some search results.
- It reads your homepage. DepraBot, Depra AI's web reader, reads your homepage, your robots.txt and your llms.txt. From the homepage it works out your brand name, what you sell and up to 5 competitors.
- It writes 5 buyer questions. They are in English, about your category, phrased the way a buyer would ask. None of them names your brand, so an answer that names you is one where AI chose you.
- It asks each question on 4 AI engines. The engines are ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, and the questions are asked for India. Google does not show an AI Overview for every question, and the report says where it showed none.
- It reads every answer. It records which brands the answer names, where your brand comes among them and which websites the answer cites.
What does the report show?
The report has 8 parts, in this order. Parts 1 and 7 come from your own site. The other parts come from the AI answers. When the report is ready, the page may show the top of it and ask for a phone number before it shows the rest. You can save the open report as a PDF from your browser.
- 1. What we read. Your brand, your category, the market (India) and up to 5 competitors, plus whether your homepage could be read. Check this part first, because the other parts depend on it.
- 2. The headline. In how many answers AI named your brand, out of the answers that came back. Beside it are the count for your most-named competitor, a count for each engine, and the number of answers that cite your own site. These are plain counts. There is no score out of 100.
- 3. Who AI names instead. Up to 5 brands, each with the number of answers that name it. Your row is marked.
- 4. The 5 questions. A grid of 5 questions by 4 engines. Each cell says Named, with your position, or Not named. A Google cell says No AI Overview when Google showed none.
- 5. One answer in full. The answer that names competitors and leaves you out. If there is none, the longest answer. Brand names are highlighted.
- 6. Sources AI used. The 5 websites the answers cite most, each with its type: your site, a competitor, a marketplace, an editorial site or a forum, for example.
- 7. Homepage checks. Whether AI can read your site: 8 checks, each marked pass or fail. They are listed below.
- 8. Up to 3 fixes. Picked by fixed rules from the homepage checks and the sources. The fix that blocks AI the most comes first.
What the 8 homepage checks cover
robots.txt is the file that tells bots which pages they may read. JSON-LD is structured data in a page that tells machines what the page is about.
- Search and user bots. Whether your robots.txt lets in the 5 bots that fetch pages for these four engines: OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Googlebot, PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User.
- Fetch. Whether DepraBot could fetch your homepage at all.
- Text. Whether the page has readable text without running JavaScript.
- Page basics. Five checks: a title, a meta description, exactly one H1 heading, JSON-LD and a sitemap declared in robots.txt.
- Notes, not scores. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, Google-Extended and llms.txt are shown for information only. They never count as a failure. A check that could not be run says "Could not check" and is not counted either.
What the homepage checks leave out
They cover your homepage and your robots.txt, once. The full check of 41 AI crawlers, for your site and the competitors you track, is the AI crawler checker inside a Depra AI project. The AI crawlers list explains what each bot does.
What are the limits of the free audit?
The audit is one snapshot, and a few limits keep it free for everyone.
- One audit per email per day. An email also gets at most 3 audits with AI answers in 30 days.
- English questions. The 5 questions are in English and are asked for India.
- A daily number of free audits. The AI answers cost money to run, so Depra AI sets a daily budget for them. When the day's budget is used up, the homepage checks still run, and the report tells you to run the audit again the next day. The day turns over at midnight India time.
- One site, twice a week. One audit runs for a site at a time, and a site gets AI answers at most twice in 7 days. If the same site was audited in the last 7 days, you may get that report, with its date on it.
- Your own site only. Enter your own brand's website. Large platforms such as Google, Amazon and Wikipedia are refused.
- One run, not tracking. AI answers change from one run to the next, so 5 questions asked once are a first look, not a number to track. How to measure AI visibility explains how many answers a stable number needs.
What happens to your website and email?
The website is what gets audited. The audit sends at most one email, with the link to your report. The Depra AI team may also write to you about your audit. Your website and email also reach the Depra AI team as a lead, and they stay on that list until you ask us to delete them. If the report page asks for a phone number, that number is kept on the same list until you ask us to delete it, and the team may call or message you on it about your audit.
The report sits at a private link, and search engines are told not to index it. Anyone who has the link can open it, so share it with care. The report and its answers are deleted after 90 days.
The 5 questions go to the AI engines, and none of them names your brand. Your homepage text, your brand name and the answers go to Azure OpenAI, or to OpenAI as a fallback, which drafts the questions and reads the answers. Your email goes to neither. The privacy policy has the details, and About DepraBot covers what the bot reads.
What does a Depra AI plan add to the audit?
The audit asks 5 questions once. A Depra AI plan asks the questions you choose on a schedule and stores every answer, so you can see what changed after you fix something. ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews are checked daily, and Perplexity weekly (daily on Enterprise).
Plans track questions in English and, for India, in Hinglish too, in any of 40 markets, against the competitors you pick. Starter costs ₹1,999 a month plus GST for 16 prompt slots, 1 project and 3 competitors. Starter, Growth and Scale start with 7 days free, no card needed. Depra AI pricing lists every plan.
A plan starts its own tracking. The answers in a free audit stay in its report. Sign up with the email you used for the audit and your newest finished report is waiting in your account.
