AI visibility for baby and kids brands is how often AI assistants name your diapers, baby care, feeding products, kids' clothing or toys when a parent asks what to buy. Depra AI tracks it on four engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews (the AI summaries above some Google results). Questions are asked from inside India or any of 40 markets, and every full answer is kept.
Depra AI measures what AI answers say. It does not judge whether a product is safe or suitable for a child.
It is one of the Depra AI for consumer brands pages. Adult apparel is on Depra AI for fashion brands, and family snacks on Depra AI for food and beverage brands.
How do parents find baby and kids brands in AI answers?
They describe their child, ask what to buy and get a short list of brands, often with the websites the answer cites. The question usually names an age, a size, a material, a budget or a season, so track those details.
Depra AI's study of AI shopping answers collected 480 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity in India on 14 August 2026. It asked skincare and fashion questions, not baby questions. Of its 4,640 citations, youtube.com drew 534, reddit.com 191 and nykaa.com 176: a video site, a forum and a retailer.
Parents also read retailers and parenting communities. FirstCry says it launched its platform in India in 2010 and aims to be a one-stop destination for parenting needs (FirstCry investor relations, checked 8 Oct 2026). Its parenting site offers expert-backed articles, a panel of doctors and a parent community (FirstCry Parenting, checked 8 Oct 2026). Check whether answers cite them.
What does AI visibility for baby and kids brands cover in Depra AI?
Depra AI records each answer from four engines: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews daily, Perplexity weekly.
- Brand mentions: whether a newborn diaper answer names you (visibility), your place in its list, its tone, and your share of all brand mentions (share of voice) against each rival.
- Product prompts: for "best wooden stacking toy under ₹1,000", whether each answer names your toy, a rival's or neither, on all four engines.
- Products ChatGPT shows: for feeding bottle questions, the Shopping report (every plan) ranks brands by share of the answers where ChatGPT showed product cards, and lists the stores selling them. OpenAI says shopping in ChatGPT is live for users in the US today and will expand to more regions (OpenAI merchants page, checked 7 Oct 2026). For India, your Shopping report may show few or no products until ChatGPT shows products there.
- Cited sites and gaps: every cited site, labelled by type, so forum threads and marketplace listings show apart, and on Growth and above the sites cited for a rival while you are missing.
- Perception and facts: the words answers attach to each brand, such as "soft fabric", and claims that back or contradict your facts, such as a diaper pack count, over 28 days.
- Changes and actions: what moved between the last two scan days, such as a new rival in toy answers, and ranked actions.
- Languages and markets: English and Hinglish (Hindi and English typed in English letters), and up to 10 of 40 markets per project.
How do I set up Depra AI for a baby and kids brand?
Depra AI is self-serve: you set it up yourself, and the Depra AI quickstart has each step.
- 1. Sign up with your own store address, not a marketplace listing. A first free scan of ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity runs during setup, with no card.
- 2. Correct the drafted brand profile so it lists your real lines, age bands and price band.
- 3. Name your rivals and markets: the baby brands you compete with, up to 3, 5, 8 or 12 by plan, and India plus any other country you sell in.
- 4. Tick your questions. Keep suggestions that match your age bands, from up to 5 topics of 8, and add your own.
- 5. Start the trial: 3 days free on Starter, Growth or Scale, card or UPI AutoPay required. The first charge is on day 4 unless you cancel.
How does Depra AI read a baby and kids store's data?
DepraBot, Depra AI's web reader, reads your store's public product list so Depra AI knows which products are yours, from diaper packs to toy sets. On Shopify it uses the Storefront API on your myshopify.com address, with no access token, and /products.json if needed. Other stores are read through the WooCommerce Store API or sitemaps.
It reads only your own site, its subdomains and your myshopify.com address, and Depra AI never changes a store. DepraBot obeys robots.txt, your file of rules for bots; if yours blocks it, upload your product list as a file. Scans run at setup, weekly and when you press Fetch.
Answers are collected from inside the country you pick and stored in full. See About DepraBot, the store catalogue docs and the methodology.
A Depra AI app for Shopify is coming to the Shopify App Store. When it is listed, it will read your products, collections and store pages. Until then, setup needs no Shopify app and no access token.
How do I connect Depra AI to Claude and other AI apps?
Connect through the read-only Depra AI MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets Claude or another AI app read your stored data, so you can ask about your toy answers in plain words.
It cannot change a project, start a scan or edit your site. A token can read only the projects its creator can access, so keep it secret. Claude on the web and ChatGPT cannot connect yet. Exact files are in MCP setup; the MCP overview and MCP tools reference explain the rest.
- 1. In the Depra AI app, open API Keys, listed in the sidebar under Company.
- 2. Create a personal access token with the Create token button.
- 3. Open your app's tab: Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop, Codex or Other.
- 4. Follow that tab's steps to add the server address and your token.
- 5. Reload as the tab says: open a new terminal for Claude Code or Codex, quit and reopen Claude Desktop, or in VS Code start the server and paste your token. Cursor needs no restart.
- 6. Test it. Ask: "List my Depra AI projects."
Which buyer prompts should a baby and kids brand track first?
Start with what parents ask about their child's age, size and needs: one or two questions per hero product. The 12 below are examples to adapt, not results. Leave your brand name out: questions that name it are left out of scores by default.
Some parent questions sit close to medical advice, such as when to start solid food. Track those only where you sell a matching product, and read the full answers. Prompts and topics explains slots.
| Prompt | What it shows you | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Best newborn diapers for sensitive skin, pack under ₹800 | Whether answers name your diapers when a parent gives an age, a concern and a budget | Age, problem, price band |
| Diaper pants or taped diapers for a 6-month-old: which is better? | Which brands each answer picks when a parent weighs two diaper formats | Comparison |
| Which diapers stay dry overnight in humid weather? | Whether climate questions name you, and which reviews and forums they cite | Problem, climate |
| BPA-free feeding bottle for a newborn under ₹500 | Whether answers name your bottle when a parent filters by material, and describe the material the way your label does | Material, price band |
| When can a baby start cereal, and which brands make it? | Whether a feeding question close to medical advice names brands at all, and which sources it cites | Age, advice |
| Best baby lotion for dry skin in Delhi winters | Whether a question naming a city and a season names you (it is asked from India as a whole) | Climate, city |
| Soft cotton clothes for a newborn in summer, under ₹1,000 a set | Whether kidswear answers name your fabric and your price band | Material, price band |
| What clothes size should I buy for a tall 3-year-old? | Whether answers name your brand and cite your size chart or a retailer's | Size, age |
| Ethnic wear for a baby boy's first Diwali under ₹1,500 | Whether festival questions name you in the weeks before Diwali | Occasion, price band |
| Best educational toys for a 2-year-old under ₹1,500 | Which toy brands are named for one age band and one budget | Age, price band |
| Which toy brands for toddlers carry the ISI mark? | Whether answers tie your brand to its BIS certification, and which sources they cite for it | Certification |
| Return gifts for a 5th birthday party under ₹300 each | Whether gifting questions name your toys, and on ChatGPT which products appear | Occasion, price band |
Which SEO, AEO and GEO audit prompts can I ask Claude about my baby and kids range?
Paste these into Claude, or any app connected to the Depra AI MCP server. Start with list_projects: it gives the project id the other tools need. MCP recipes has more.
Rows run from GEO (generative engine optimization: being named in AI answers) to AEO (answer engine optimization: what answers say about you) to SEO (the pages and domains AI cites). Robots.txt checks are not among the MCP tools; use the app's AI crawler checker.
| Prompt | What it checks | Depra AI MCP tools it uses |
|---|---|---|
| Split our diaper visibility by prompt for the last 30 days. On which newborn and overnight questions does a rival lead us? | GEO: where rivals lead, question by question | list_projects, list_topics, get_brand_report |

| Which pages do answers cite for our ISI-mark toy questions, and do any of them name our brand? | SEO: the pages cited on certification questions, and whether they name you | get_url_report, get_url_content |
| Which review blogs, parenting sites or directories are cited in diaper answers that name a rival but not us? Keep rows marked recommendable and drop low-confidence ones. | SEO: sites to pitch, from the gaps against rivals | get_source_gaps |
What can a baby and kids brand do to get recommended by AI?
Give answers exact facts, keep regulated wording inside the rules, and be where parents read. Nothing here promises a mention.
Put age, size and material on every product page
Put the age range, a size chart in centimetres and the materials as plain text on each product page and listing, in the words of the web searches ChatGPT ran. Never call a product suitable for an age your label does not state.
Keep toy certification facts exact
The Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020 covers products designed or clearly intended for play by children under 14. It says they must conform to the listed Indian Standards and bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards, BIS (Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020, checked 8 Oct 2026). BIS says the order came into effect on 1 January 2021 and calls the mark the ISI mark (BIS, checked 8 Oct 2026).
Show licence details exactly as issued, never stretched into a wider promise, and add them as a Depra AI fact.
Check infant food content against the FSSAI rules before you publish
India's Foods for Infant Nutrition Regulations, 2020 say no container or label of these foods may show a picture of an infant or a woman, or use words such as "Humanised", "Energy Food" or "Health Food" (regulation 4(2), FSSAI, checked 8 Oct 2026). The same rules say these foods must comply with the Infant Milk Substitutes, Feeding Bottles and Infant Foods Act, 1992, including on advertising and promotion (regulation 3(8)).
Check with your legal adviser before you publish any infant food content.
Complete your listings on the baby stores answers cite
Start with FirstCry and with Flipkart's baby care section, which lists diapers, baby food and feeding bottles (Flipkart, checked 8 Oct 2026). Where the gap list shows a baby store cited for rivals and no page of yours there, create or claim your listing so the page exists for an engine to find and cite. Our marketplace visibility guide goes deeper.
Join parenting communities as the brand, without medical advice
Parentune describes itself as "Supporting millions of parents across India" (Parentune, checked 8 Oct 2026), and FirstCry Parenting runs its own parent community. In Depra AI's study, reddit.com was cited in 106 of 480 answers, more than any other site. Answer product questions openly under your brand name, and leave health questions to doctors.
Write for parents, and keep content for children within the ASCI Code
The code of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) defines children as people below 12. It says advertisements addressed to them must not contain anything that might lead to their physical, mental or moral harm, or exploit their vulnerability (ASCI Code, checked 8 Oct 2026). It also says factual claims should be capable of substantiation. youtube.com drew the most citations in Depra AI's study, so brief creators only with claims you can back up.
What does Depra AI not do for baby and kids brands?
Depra AI reports what AI answers tell parents. It does not check products or act on stores.
- No marketplace data: no rankings in FirstCry, Amazon or Flipkart search, and no sales, prices, stock, ads or reviews.
- Product cards from ChatGPT only: for a feeding bottle question, the other three engines count for mentions and sources, not product cards.
- No copy, site or store changes: it will not write your size guide, edit a product page or touch your store.
- No safety, medical or compliance review: it does not test products, judge whether they suit a child, or check labels and ads against BIS, FSSAI or ASCI rules.
- Country level only: a question about Delhi winters is still asked from India as a whole, and questions in Hindi script are not tracked.
- No guarantees: no engine can be made to recommend your product, and a before-and-after view is not proof of cause.
