The best MCP servers for SEO and marketing are the ones published by the owner of data you already use. That is the rule this page uses for "best", and it is not a quality score. Google Analytics, Google Ads, Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, Shopify, HubSpot and Depra AI each have an official one, linked in the table below. We found none from Google for Search Console (Google Cloud MCP servers, checked 7 Oct 2026), so a community server fills that gap.
An MCP server lets an AI app such as Claude or Cursor read a tool's data, and sometimes change it. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open-source standard that connects AI applications to outside systems (Model Context Protocol, checked 7 Oct 2026).
Depra AI publishes this page and is on the list. The nine servers are in no order of quality. We built the list from each owner's documentation or repository on 7 Oct 2026, not from hands-on testing. Each section says whether the server only reads or can also write.
| Server | Made by | What it gives | Access needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics MCP server | Google, official, marked experimental | Analytics reports and realtime data. Read-only | Python with pipx, a Google Cloud project, read-only credentials |
| mcp-gsc for Search Console | Community: Amin Foroutan, not Google | Search queries, clicks, impressions, indexing checks, sitemaps. Can submit a sitemap | A Google Cloud project with the Search Console API switched on |
| Google Ads MCP server | Google, official, open source | Campaign data. Read-only in the current release | A Google Cloud project with Google Ads API access |
| Ahrefs MCP | Ahrefs, official, hosted | Backlinks, keywords, rank tracking, site audit, Brand Radar | Lite plan or higher. Calls use API units |
| Semrush MCP | Semrush, official, hosted | SEO API, Trends API and read-only project data | A plan with API units, or a Trends API subscription |
| DataForSEO MCP | DataForSEO, official, hosted or local | Search results, keywords, backlinks, on-page checks, business data | A DataForSEO account. Pay as you go |
| Shopify connector for Claude | Shopify, official | Store products, inventory, orders, customers and analytics. Can change the store once you approve write access | Claude, and the data access you approve in your Shopify admin |
| HubSpot MCP server | HubSpot, official, hosted | CRM records, listed as read and write. Campaigns, landing pages and blog posts, read-only | A HubSpot account and a user-level app |
| Depra AI MCP server | Depra AI, official, hosted | AI visibility, cited sources, source gaps, stored AI answers, products ChatGPT showed. Read-only | An active trial or plan, and a personal access token |
What is an MCP server, and why would a marketer use one?
An MCP server is a connection between an AI app and one tool. It gives the AI app a list of actions it may call, such as "run a report" or "list backlinks". A marketer uses one to ask questions in plain words and get answers from real data.
Most servers sit on top of an API, the channel one program uses to ask another for data. Four words recur below. Read-only means the server can look but cannot change anything. Write means it can create or change records. Hosted means the owner runs the server, and local means it runs on your own computer.
How was this MCP servers list chosen?
We chose the nine by a rule with three parts, and "best" on this page means only that a server passes it. The owner of the data publishes the server, or, where we found none from the owner, a named maintainer does. We could confirm what it does on that owner's page or repository on 7 Oct 2026. A marketer can use its data for SEO, ads, store or customer work.
The list is built from documentation, not from hands-on testing. We did not compare the servers with each other, so it is not ranked by quality. The order is by type: Google, SEO data suites, commerce and customer tools, then Depra AI.
The list is not complete. Other vendors may publish MCP servers that pass the same rule, and we left out any server we did not check on 7 Oct 2026.
The 9 best MCP servers for SEO and marketing
Each entry says who makes the server, what it gives, whether it can write and what it needs.
1. Google Analytics MCP server
Made by Google. It connects Google Analytics data to an AI app, so you can ask how many users came yesterday. Google states that it is for read requests only and cannot edit your Analytics settings (Google Analytics, checked 7 Oct 2026).
Its repository marks it experimental, and it runs on your own computer. It needs Python with the pipx installer, a Google Cloud project with two Analytics APIs switched on, and read-only credentials (Google Analytics MCP on GitHub, checked 7 Oct 2026).
2. Google Search Console: mcp-gsc (community)
We found no Search Console server made by Google on 7 Oct 2026. It is not on Google's list of remote MCP servers (Google Cloud MCP servers, checked 7 Oct 2026), or among the open-source servers in Google's MCP repository (google/mcp on GitHub, checked 7 Oct 2026). So this entry is a community server, not a Google product.
mcp-gsc by Amin Foroutan is MIT-licensed. Its tools cover search analytics, indexing checks on your pages, and sitemaps, the files that list a site's pages. It is not fully read-only: it can submit a sitemap. Its README says the tools that add or delete a site, or delete a sitemap, are off by default. It needs a Google Cloud project with the Search Console API switched on, and sign-in details you create there (mcp-gsc on GitHub, checked 7 Oct 2026).
3. Google Ads MCP server
Made by Google. It lets an AI agent analyse and retrieve campaign data from the Google Ads API in plain words. Google lists its mode as read-only in the current release. It runs on your computer or on Google Cloud Run. You need a Google Cloud project with Explorer, Basic or Standard access to the Google Ads API, and credentials from Google Cloud (Google Ads API docs, checked 7 Oct 2026).
4. Ahrefs MCP
Made by Ahrefs and hosted by it. It gives AI tools access to the Ahrefs API. Its tool groups include Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Rank Tracker, Site Audit, Brand Radar, Web Analytics and Google Search Console. One group covers account management (Ahrefs tool categories, checked 8 Oct 2026).
It is available on the Lite plan and higher. Each call uses API units, the credits in your monthly allowance, and each plan caps the rows per request. Admins can set a monthly unit limit per key. The page does not say whether the server is read-only (Ahrefs docs, checked 8 Oct 2026).
5. Semrush MCP
Made by Semrush and hosted by it. It gives AI agents access to Semrush's public APIs: the SEO API, the Trends API, and the read-only methods of the Projects API. You can read project data this way, but not create projects or change settings. For SEO data you need Semrush One Starter or Pro+, or SEO Classic Pro or Guru, which include 50,000 API units. SEO Classic Business and Semrush One Advanced need an API units package. You sign in through a Semrush login screen, or with an API key (Semrush developer docs, checked 8 Oct 2026).
6. DataForSEO MCP
Made by DataForSEO. It links an AI model to the DataForSEO APIs: search results, keyword data, DataForSEO Labs, backlinks, on-page checks, business data, domain analytics and AI optimisation data. You can connect to its hosted address, or run it on your computer with Node.js 18 or higher. Both need a DataForSEO account with an API login and password. DataForSEO prices its services pay as you go, and its page does not say whether the server is read-only (DataForSEO, checked 8 Oct 2026).
7. Shopify connector for Claude and Dev MCP server
Made by Shopify. The connector for Claude works with a store you own: products, collections, inventory, discounts and analytics. It reads orders and customers without changing them. It is not read-only: it can change the store once you approve write access, so read the access level it requests before you approve it (Shopify Help Center, checked 7 Oct 2026).
For developers, the Dev MCP server reaches Shopify's developer resources, runs on your computer and needs Node.js 18 or higher (Shopify AI Toolkit, checked 7 Oct 2026). The Shopify MCP guide has the setup lines.
8. HubSpot MCP server
Made by HubSpot and hosted by it. It gives an MCP-compatible AI tool access to HubSpot CRM data, the customer records such as contacts, companies and deals. Campaigns, landing pages, website pages and blog posts are read-only. HubSpot's page describes CRM access two ways: read and write in its data list, and read-only in its answer on sensitive data. So check the permissions you grant. You need the new HubSpot Developer Platform and a user-level app that you create there. HubSpot aims the server mainly at developers and technical teams (HubSpot developers, checked 7 Oct 2026).
9. Depra AI MCP server
Made by Depra AI, which publishes this page. It is read-only, with 24 tools over the data stored in your project. They cover AI visibility, share of voice, sentiment, cited sites, source gaps, full AI answers and the products ChatGPT showed.
It is included on every plan while a trial or subscription is active. It signs in with a personal access token that you create on the API Keys page, under Company in the Depra AI app's sidebar. A token can read only the projects its creator can access. It works with Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Codex, and with Claude Desktop through the mcp-remote bridge. The API Keys page has steps for other MCP apps too. It cannot connect to claude.ai on the web or to ChatGPT yet. Start at the Depra AI MCP docs.
Is there an official Google Search Console MCP server?
Not one that we could find on 7 Oct 2026. Search Console is not on Google's list of remote MCP servers (Google Cloud MCP servers, checked 7 Oct 2026). It is also not among the open-source servers in Google's MCP repository (google/mcp on GitHub, checked 7 Oct 2026).
Google documents the API itself, and the page we read does not mention an MCP server. The API's Search Analytics method returns search traffic by query, page, country, device or date (Google Search Console API, checked 7 Oct 2026). Community MCP servers wrap that API.
That leaves three routes. Use a community server such as mcp-gsc, a suite such as Ahrefs, whose MCP server has a Search Console tool group (Ahrefs tool categories, checked 8 Oct 2026), or a manual export.
How do you choose an MCP server?
Start from the question you want answered, then pick the server that owns that data.
- Use data you already pay for. The Ahrefs and Semrush servers draw on your existing plan and its API units (Ahrefs docs and Semrush developer docs, checked 8 Oct 2026). Check what a new server costs before you add it.
- Prefer the owner. An official server is kept by the company that holds the data. A community server depends on its maintainer, so read its code and its open issues.
- Read-only or write. Choose read-only when you only need answers. The Google Analytics, Google Ads and Depra AI servers only read (Google Analytics and Google Ads API docs, checked 7 Oct 2026).
- Check your app. Not every server works in every AI app. Each owner lists the apps it supports.
How do you stay safe with MCP servers?
Three habits cover most of the risk: read-only first, least access, and review before acting.
- Read-only first. Connect servers that only read, and add write access later if a task needs it.
- Least access. Claude inherits your permissions in the connected service. So connect with an account that sees only what the job needs (Claude Help Center, checked 7 Oct 2026).
- Trust the maker. Claude Code's documentation says to check that you trust each server before connecting it. Servers that fetch outside content can carry hidden instructions, called prompt injection (Claude Code docs, checked 7 Oct 2026).
- Review before acting. Semrush's own MCP page says AI responses may be incomplete or inaccurate (Semrush developer docs, checked 8 Oct 2026). Read a draft before anything is published, sent or changed.
- Cap the spend. Where calls cost units or money, set a limit before you start.
How do these servers work together?
One assistant can hold several servers at once, so one question can draw on more than one source.
SEO automation with AI agents builds a weekly routine this way, and the Shopify MCP guide pairs a store catalogue with AI visibility data. Agencies can read Depra AI for agencies. The MCP setup guide covers connecting the Depra AI MCP server.
