I Tested Otterly, AITLAS, Semrush and Ahrefs Against Depra AI

Screens from my own accounts and each tool's public pages on 26 October 2026, with Depra AI shown through its home page demo: what each tool shows, what it does well, and what you do not get compared with Depra AI.

I signed in to Otterly.AI, AITLAS by Shiprocket and Semrush on 26 October 2026, opened Ahrefs Brand Radar's public pages, and put each one next to Depra AI. The short version: Otterly is the most complete of the other dedicated trackers, AITLAS has a free plan and writes articles for you, and Semrush and Ahrefs are large SEO suites whose AI visibility data comes mostly from their own prompt databases. If you sell in India and want to see what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews say about your brand every day, in English and Hinglish, billed in rupees, Depra AI is the one built for that job.

I co-founded Depra AI, so read what I say about it with that in mind. Every screenshot below comes from my own accounts or from each vendor's public pages on 26 October 2026. Every price and plan limit comes from the vendor's own pages, mostly its pricing page, read the same day. Where another tool does something better, I say so. Our rules for comparisons are in the editorial policy.

How did I test the five tools?

I signed in where I could and looked at what each tool shows on the plan I had. In Otterly I have a trial workspace that tracks Depra AI against Profound, Peec AI and other AI visibility tools, for questions asked from India. In AITLAS I signed in to the Free plan and ran one scan for Holy Strips, a vitamin strips brand the Depra AI team works with (see the Holy Strips case study). My Semrush account has no active plan, so I used Semrush's free example report. I was not signed in to Ahrefs, so its screens come from the public Brand Radar page.

For Depra AI I used the product demo from our home page. It shows Depra AI's own project with real competitor names and illustrative numbers, and every screen carries a "Sample data" label. Each section below says what the tool is, what I saw, what it does well, and what you do not get compared with Depra AI. Each tool looked at a different brand, so this is not a like-for-like test.

Otterly.AI: a full AI search tracker, priced in dollars

Otterly is a dedicated AI search monitoring tool. Its plans are Lite at $29 a month (15 prompts), Standard at $189 (100 prompts) and Premium at $489 (400 prompts), with custom Enterprise pricing from 1,000 prompts (Otterly pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Each prompt runs once a day on every engine in the account, and Otterly says it reads answers from the AI platforms' public web pages, using an API only for Claude (how Otterly collects data (opens in a new tab)).

The app is clean and quick to read. The Prompts page lists each tracked question with brand coverage, sentiment, mentions and domain citations, and you can open any prompt to read the answers engine by engine.

What Otterly does well

Otterly Recommendations page with 187 suggested actions, each tagged with an engine, a type and an impact level
Recommendations: a ranked queue of things to publish or fix, tagged by engine.
  • Microsoft Copilot is included. Every plan tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and all of them run daily, Perplexity too.
  • Low entry price in dollars. $29 a month gets you 15 prompts, with unlimited team members on every plan.
  • ChatGPT Shopping cards. Every brand report tracks the product cards ChatGPT shows, at no extra cost.
  • Brand Profiling and Recommendations. You see the qualities AI answers attach to each brand, and a ranked list of actions (a preview of 3 a week on Lite).
  • Developer access from Standard. An API, an MCP server (a way to connect AI assistants such as Claude to your data), Agent Analytics (which AI crawlers visit your site) and a Data Studio connector start on the $189 plan.

What you do not get in Otterly

  • Gemini in the base price. Gemini is an add-on at $9 a month on Lite, $59 on Standard and $149 on Premium (Otterly pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Depra AI checks Gemini daily on every plan and reads the answer shown in the gemini.google.com app.
  • Hinglish by name. Otterly runs prompts in any language exactly as typed (Otterly languages help (opens in a new tab)), but none of the Otterly pages I read mention Hinglish. Depra AI suggests Hinglish versions of your questions when India is a market, and from Growth it puts English and Hinglish results side by side.
  • Rupee billing. Otterly prices in US dollars or euros. Depra AI bills in rupees with a GST invoice, by card or UPI.
  • Marketplaces as a source type. Otterly labels cited domains by category, but its category list has no marketplace (citations help page (opens in a new tab)), so a cited marketplace shows up in the list without that label. Depra AI labels every cited site by type, and marketplace is one of the types, so you can see which marketplaces AI answers cite in your category, such as Amazon.in, Flipkart, Nykaa, Myntra and Meesho.
  • Stored ChatGPT searches. Otterly's Query Fan-Out tool generates the searches an engine may run for a prompt you type (Query Fan-Out help (opens in a new tab)). The Otterly pages I read do not say whether it keeps the searches ChatGPT actually ran behind each tracked answer. Depra AI stores those searches behind its tracked answers.
  • MCP on the entry plan. Otterly's MCP server starts on Standard at $189 a month. Depra AI's read-only MCP server comes with every plan, Starter included.
  • Replies within the hour, on Indian time. Otterly aims to answer within 24 hours on business days, and its support hours are 9:00 to 17:00 CET, which is 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm in India (Otterly support (opens in a new tab)). Depra AI aims to reply to email within an hour during working hours in India (IST).
  • Hands-on work from the tool's own team. Otterly points you to its certified partner agencies (opens in a new tab). The Depra AI team can do the website, product data and listings work itself, as a separate service.

AITLAS by Shiprocket: a free plan and an article writer

AITLAS is a separate product from Shiprocket, the Indian shipping and e-commerce company. It has two parts: RADAR, which runs buying questions through AI models, and HYDRA, which writes articles meant to be quoted in AI answers (AEO articles) and publishes them to your website, for example on WordPress or Shopify. Self-serve plans are Free (₹0), Starter (₹999 a month), Growth (₹4,999) and Scale (₹12,999), all plus 18% GST, and managed services start at ₹24,999 a month with a three-month minimum (AITLAS pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026).

Its homepage names up to six AI engines, but the pricing page gives every self-serve plan "2 AI platforms" and does not say which two. When I set up the Holy Strips scan, AITLAS read the website, wrote 15 prompts and sorted them into informational, commercial, navigational and transactional questions. 15 is the Free plan's cap for one scan.

The scan running. The models panel shows two: GPT and Gemini.

What the scan showed

The scan took a few minutes and checked 30 answers: 15 prompts on two models. The summary said Holy Strips "appeared in 16.7% of AI answers" and called its share of voice "dominant at 100%". The Competitors tab explained why: "No competitors were tracked in this scan." The setup step asks for competitors (the Free plan allows 2), and my scan ended up with none. With no rival brands in the count, any mention is 100% of the share, so add your competitors if you try it.

The Prompts tab told the rest. Four of the five mentions came from prompts that already contain the name Holy Strips. In the 26 checks of questions that do not name the brand, Holy Strips appeared once.

What AITLAS does well

AITLAS Prompt Gaps tab listing 13 questions where Holy Strips was not mentioned, each with a Create in Hydra button
Prompt Gaps sends each missed question straight to HYDRA, the article writer.
  • A real free plan. Free costs ₹0 and AITLAS says it needs no card. Starter at ₹999 a month is the cheapest paid plan in this review.
  • It writes for you. HYDRA writes articles (1 on Free, up to 7 a month on Scale) and publishes them to WordPress or Shopify from Starter.
  • Managed service at published prices. From ₹24,999 a month the AITLAS team writes 8 AEO articles a month and adds one guest post and two community placements. Directory and review listings start on Pro at ₹54,999.
  • Useful extras. Query fan-out from Starter, Google Search Console and GA4 connectors, and one-click agents for robots.txt, schema, llms.txt and product pages.

What you do not get in AITLAS

  • Named engines on every plan. Every self-serve AITLAS plan tracks 2 AI platforms, and more are "On request" on Growth and Scale with no price (AITLAS pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Depra AI names its engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews run on every plan, and Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode and more are Enterprise add-ons.
  • Where the answers come from. My scan showed two models, labelled "GPT" and "Gemini". I found no AITLAS page that says whether answers come from the ChatGPT and Gemini apps or from the models' APIs, and the two can answer differently. Depra AI reads ChatGPT from chatgpt.com with web search on, Gemini from the gemini.google.com app, and Google AI Overviews from a real Google results page. Perplexity is the exception: Depra AI checks it through its Sonar API with live web search, and those answers can differ from the Perplexity app too (how Depra AI captures answers).
  • A clear scan schedule. On Free and Starter, scans are manual and capped (3 and 5). Growth and Scale add "Schedule Scans", but the pricing page does not say how often they run, and other AITLAS pages say "daily or hourly" or "continuously". Depra AI checks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews every day on every plan.
  • Hinglish on the plan page. AITLAS's pricing page and homepage do not mention Hinglish. Shiprocket's launch post (opens in a new tab) describes a persona agent that can act like a Hinglish shopper. Depra AI tracks questions in English, Hinglish, French and most other major languages, plus code-mixed questions, on every plan.
  • ChatGPT product cards. I found no AITLAS page about recording the products ChatGPT shows as cards. The Depra AI Shopping report (Growth and up) ranks brands by those cards and lists the stores they point to.

How does AITLAS get its answers?

AITLAS calls RADAR and HYDRA its own platforms, and I found no sign that it resells another company's tool. Its web app sends each scan to a list of AI models kept on AITLAS's own server, with the API models gpt-4o and gemini-2.5-flash as the fallback, and my scan asked each of the 15 prompts once to two models, labelled "GPT" and "Gemini". That points to answers collected through the models' APIs, as many tracking tools do, with AITLAS adding prompt writing, scoring, citations and HYDRA on top. It is a fair way to get a quick first read. It is not the same as reading what the ChatGPT and Gemini apps show a shopper, which is what Depra AI records for those two engines.

Semrush: an SEO suite that added an AI toolkit

Semrush, an Adobe company since April 2026, sells AI visibility as one of its toolkits. On its own, the AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain with 25 tracked prompts (Semrush AI pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Semrush One Starter bundles it with the SEO toolkit for $199 a month, or $165.17 a month billed annually, with 50 prompts (Semrush One pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Semrush talks about AI search openly: its Semrush One page reads "One connected solution for Google, AI search + GEO".

Most of its AI data comes from a large prompt database Semrush collects itself, so you can look up any domain with no setup. Your own prompts run in Prompt Tracking on one engine each: ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode or Gemini (Prompt Tracking help (opens in a new tab)). Semrush's help pages put Perplexity in the Brand Performance reports, which update weekly.

My account has no active plan. The whole AI Visibility menu is there, but entering a domain opened a "Get Semrush One" upgrade box. Semrush's free example report for warbyparker.com shows what a paying user sees.

What Semrush does well

  • Any domain, no setup. The prompt database gives visibility numbers for any website straight away, with topic and competitor views.
  • SEO and AI in one account. Prompt Tracking works like Position Tracking, so an SEO team can read AI answers next to keyword rankings.
  • Google AI Mode included. AI Mode is part of the standard reports. Depra AI offers AI Mode only as an Enterprise add-on.
  • Reach. Prompt Tracking covers 220+ countries and territories, and Brand Performance lists 53 languages.
  • Source Opportunities. Like the Depra AI gap list, it shows the sites AI answers cite for competitors but not for you.

What you do not get in Semrush

  • Every engine on every question. Your own prompts run on one engine each, and Perplexity is not one of the Prompt Tracking choices. Semrush's help pages put Perplexity in the Brand Performance reports, which update weekly. Depra AI asks every tracked question to ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews on every plan.
  • A ChatGPT Shopping report and fan-out below Enterprise. Semrush's AI Shopping report, which covers ChatGPT Shopping and Google AI Mode, and its Query Fan-Out Analysis are part of Enterprise AIO, priced on request (AI Shopping news (opens in a new tab), Query Fan-Out news (opens in a new tab)). On the self-serve plans, Prompt Tracking does note product cards in Google AI Mode as Shopping ads (Prompt Tracking help (opens in a new tab)). The Depra AI Shopping report starts on Growth at ₹7,499 a month, and Depra AI keeps the searches ChatGPT ran behind its answers.
  • Hinglish. None of the Semrush pages I read mention Hinglish.
  • Rupees and UPI. Plans are priced in US dollars and paid by card or wire transfer. Semrush does charge Indian GST with a GSTIN on the invoice.
  • A trial without a card. Semrush's 7-day trial validates your credit card. Its help centre says the toolkit bought on its own has no trial (toolkit help (opens in a new tab)), though some Semrush feature pages show a "Try free for 7 days" button. Depra AI's 7-day trial needs no card.

Ahrefs Brand Radar: a huge index, your own prompts paid by the check

Ahrefs is also an SEO suite first, and it uses the word AEO all over its site, including an "Ahrefs for AEO" page. Brand Radar is its AI visibility product, in two parts. The AI Visibility Index is a database Ahrefs builds from its keyword data, which its Brand Radar page puts at 505M+ monthly prompts, across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Custom Prompts are the questions you choose yourself.

The Index costs $199 a month for each platform you pick, or $699 a month for all of them, which also adds 2,500 custom prompt checks (AI Visibility Index (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Lite at $129 a month includes 150 custom prompt checks a month, which Ahrefs shows as 5 prompts checked daily on one platform. Standard and Advanced include 300 and 600 checks, and if you only want your own prompts, packages start at $50 a month for 2,500 checks (Ahrefs pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026). Its pricing FAQ offers no free trial, though there is a free AI Visibility Checker. I was not signed in to Ahrefs, so these screens are from the public Brand Radar page.

The Brand Radar demo: engine tabs across the top and two prompt sources, Ahrefs' global dataset or your own tracked prompts.

What Ahrefs does well

  • Research any brand. Look up any brand, product or category in the index with no setup and no cap on domains.
  • Wide engine list. The index covers AI Mode and Copilot, and Custom Prompts add Claude.
  • Search demand next to AI answers. Prompts carry an AI-adjusted search volume, so you see which questions matter.
  • Fast support and developer access. Ahrefs states a median first reply under six minutes, and MCP access comes from Lite up.

What you do not get in Ahrefs

  • A lower starting price, in rupees. Tracking your own prompts in Ahrefs starts at $50 a month for 2,500 checks, which Ahrefs shows as 80 prompts daily on one platform, and packages of 7,000 or 25,000 checks cost $100 or $250. Lite at $129 a month includes 5 prompts a day on one platform. Depra AI Starter has 16 prompt slots for ₹1,999 a month plus GST. Each slot is one question in one language and market, checked daily on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews.
  • Fresh chatbot data in the index. Ahrefs re-tests its chatbot question sets monthly on a 90-day window (Brand Radar (opens in a new tab)). Your own prompts can run as often as daily, but each prompt uses one check per platform, location and run.
  • India and Hinglish focus. You can set India as the location for your own prompts, but Ahrefs says its index is strongest in English, Hinglish is not mentioned on the pages I read, and prices are in US dollars.
  • A free trial. Asked about trials, the Ahrefs pricing FAQ points to its free plan for website owners instead.
  • A ChatGPT Shopping report. I found no shopping or product-card report on the Brand Radar pages. Depra AI has one from Growth.

Depra AI: built for brands in 40 markets, India included

Depra AI is the tool I help build, so here is what it does and what it does not do. Every plan checks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews every day. ChatGPT answers are read from chatgpt.com with web search on, and Gemini answers from the gemini.google.com app, both asked from inside your country, so you see the answers real people see there. Perplexity is checked through its Sonar model with live web search, which can differ from the Perplexity app (methodology).

Prices are in rupees: Starter ₹1,999, Growth ₹7,499, Scale ₹12,499 and Enterprise ₹25,000 a month, plus 18% GST. Starter, Growth and Scale start with 7 days free and no card (pricing). The screens below are from the demo on our home page, with sample numbers.

What you get

  • English, Hinglish, French and most other major languages on every plan, plus code-mixed questions. Growth adds English and Hinglish results side by side. See Hinglish AI visibility.
  • The products ChatGPT shows. The Shopping report (Growth and up) ranks brands by the product cards in ChatGPT answers and lists the stores they point to. See product visibility.
  • Questions about one product. Track a question such as "best body balm under ₹3,000" and see whether each answer names your product, a rival's or neither.
  • Marketplaces and gaps. Every cited site is labelled by type, marketplaces included, and Growth adds the list of sites cited for rivals but not for you. See citation gap analysis.
  • The searches behind the answers. Depra AI keeps the web searches ChatGPT ran behind its tracked answers. It also shows brand perception, the qualities AI answers tie to each brand, and checks AI answers against the facts you keep about your brand, which it can draft from your own site.
  • MCP access and support. A read-only MCP server on every plan, email support that aims to reply within an hour during working hours in India (IST), and a free 15-minute setup call through book a demo.
  • Help beyond the software. The Depra AI team can do the site, product data and listings work for you, priced separately, and Enterprise can run on your own server.

What Depra AI does not do

  • No free plan. You get a one-time free AI audit and a 7-day trial instead.
  • Other engines on Enterprise only. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are on every plan, all checked daily; Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Google AI Mode and more are Enterprise add-ons. Otterly includes Copilot, and Semrush and Ahrefs include AI Mode.
  • No alerts or scheduled reports. There are no email, WhatsApp or Slack alerts and no scheduled or emailed reports. Changes show on the daily brief inside the app.
  • Country level only. Questions are asked per country, with no finer location.
  • The software never edits your site. It shows what to fix. The team can do the work as a separate service.

Which AI visibility tool should you pick?

Pick by what you need to see and where you sell. Many teams end up with two tools: an SEO suite for Google rankings and a dedicated tracker for AI answers.

  • You sell in India and want ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews checked daily, in English and Hinglish, billed in rupees: Depra AI. Start with the free AI audit or see pricing.
  • You need Microsoft Copilot in the base plan and pay in US dollars: Otterly.AI. See Depra AI vs Otterly.
  • You want to start on a free plan and get articles written for you: AITLAS by Shiprocket. See Depra AI vs AITLAS.
  • Your SEO team already works in Semrush: the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit. See Depra AI vs Semrush.
  • You want to research any brand across a huge prompt index: Ahrefs Brand Radar. See Ahrefs Brand Radar alternatives.

FAQ

Is Depra AI better than Otterly?

For most brands that sell in India, I think it is, for five reasons: Gemini is included on every plan, Hinglish is tracked by name, marketplaces are labelled, billing is in rupees, and email support aims to reply within an hour during working hours in India (IST). Otterly is ahead on Microsoft Copilot: it includes Copilot on every plan, while Depra AI offers it as an Enterprise add-on. On price, Otterly Lite is $29 a month before tax for 15 prompts (Otterly pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026), and Depra AI Starter is ₹1,999 a month plus GST for 16 prompt slots.

Is AITLAS by Shiprocket free?

AITLAS has a ₹0 Free plan with 3 scans, 2 AI platforms and 15 prompts per scan, plus one HYDRA article. Paid self-serve plans cost ₹999 to ₹12,999 a month plus GST, and managed services start at ₹24,999 a month with a three-month minimum (AITLAS pricing (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026).

Do Semrush and Ahrefs do AEO and GEO?

Yes. Semrush calls its offer a GEO solution, and Ahrefs has an "Ahrefs for AEO" page. Both build most of their AI visibility data from their own prompt databases and sell your own tracked prompts as a smaller allowance: 25 prompts with the $99 Semrush toolkit, and 5 prompts a day on one platform with Ahrefs Lite, with more Ahrefs checks from $50 a month.

Which of these AI visibility tools tracks Hinglish?

Of the five, Depra AI is the one that tracks Hinglish buying questions by name on every plan, next to English and most other major languages, and suggests Hinglish versions when India is a market. Otterly, Semrush and Ahrefs accept prompts in other languages but do not mention Hinglish on the pages I read. Shiprocket's AITLAS launch post mentions a persona agent that can act like a Hinglish shopper; its pricing page does not.

How did you test these tools?

With my own accounts on 26 October 2026: an Otterly trial workspace, the AITLAS Free plan with one scan, Semrush's free example report (my account has no active plan) and Ahrefs' public Brand Radar page. The Depra AI screens come from the home page demo, which shows sample numbers. Prices come from each vendor's own pages, mostly its pricing page, read the same day.

Can I try Depra AI for free?

Yes. The free AI audit asks 5 buyer questions on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews with no signup and no card. Starter, Growth and Scale also start with 7 days free and no card. There is no free plan.
