Depra AI stores every citation, the link an AI answer gives as its source. It lists the cited domains and pages, and the sources that cite competitors while you are missing. Read this page before you choose where to get your brand mentioned.
What does the cited domains list show?
It lists every domain cited in your project's answers, most cited first. For each domain, Depra AI reports the numbers below.
| Number | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Citations | How many times answers cited the domain in the period |
| Used as a source | The percentage of answers that cite the domain |
| Change | Citations compared with the period of the same length just before |
Citations and the share of answers can rank sites differently. A domain can be cited many times in a few answers, or once each in many answers. Check both before you pick targets.
The Depra AI study of AI shopping answers in India shows this. It collected 480 answers on 14 August 2026. The site with the most citations was youtube.com, with 534. The site cited in the most answers was reddit.com, in 106 of 480.
What does the cited pages list show?
It lists single pages, most cited first, with the same numbers. Each page carries a page type and a site type. Depra AI also records the details below for each page.
- Your brand: whether an answer that cites the page names your brand.
- Brands on the page: how many tracked brands the stored page text names, when Depra AI holds the text.
- Movement: whether the page is new, rising or falling against the previous period.
DepraBot, the Depra AI web reader, reads cited pages. That lets you see the title and text of a source instead of a bare URL. What it reads is set out on about DepraBot.
What do the site type and page type labels mean?
Depra AI labels every cited domain with a site type and every cited page with a page type.
| Label | Values |
|---|---|
| Site type | Editorial, company site, forum, reference, marketplace, directory, government, your own site |
| Page type | Listicle, comparison, how-to guide, product page, category page, discussion, profile, article |
The labels point to the right move. For a listicle on an editorial site, ask the publisher to review your product. On a marketplace or a directory, create or claim your listing.
Marketplace is one of the site types, so you can see which marketplaces AI answers cite in your category. Depra AI does not track rankings inside a marketplace's own search.
What is the source gap list?
The gap list shows sources cited in answers that name a competitor while your brand is missing. It is sorted by gap score, highest first. Pricing lists it on Growth and above.
- Three levels: whole domains, exact hosts such as a subdomain, and single pages.
- Your share: the share of the answers citing the source that also name your brand. At 0% you are absent from every answer that cites it.
- No competitor sites: tracked brands' own domains are removed, because you cannot earn a mention there.
- Cited pages only: every number in the gap list comes from pages an engine cited in its answer.
- Filters and export: narrow the table by engine, site type, competitor or the number of competitors a site recommends, then download it as CSV.
The action plan turns these gaps into ranked next steps. The citation gap analysis page walks through an example.
What is the gap score, and what is it not?
The gap score is a rank from 0 to 100 inside your project. It puts the biggest gaps first. It is not a percentage, and it is not a target to reach.
The score is built from three numbers you can check.
- 1.How many competitor answers cite the source, compared with the source most cited in competitor answers in your project.
- 2.How many of your tracked competitors appear in the answers that cite it.
- 3.How absent you are from the answers that cite it.
Warning: The score ranks sources within one project only. One of its three numbers is measured against the source most cited in that project, so scores from two projects cannot be compared.
What do low confidence and recommendable mean?
Gap rows read through the Depra AI MCP server, the read-only connection for AI apps, carry two flags. They tell you how far to trust a row and whether you can act on it.
| Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Low confidence | The source appears in fewer than 3 prompt groups, or on fewer than 2 engines. Do not call it a pattern |
| Recommendable: yes | A media, review or directory site you can pitch |
| Recommendable: no | A vendor site or an off-topic site |
| Recommendable: not set | Depra AI has not checked the source yet |
What are ChatGPT search queries?
ChatGPT runs web searches behind an answer. Depra AI stores those searches, which are also called fan-out queries. They show what ChatGPT looked for when it answered. The app lists them under Fanouts.
- Only ChatGPT reports them. The other three engines return none.
- Depra AI keeps each query with its topic and the number of answers that ran it.
- A single stored ChatGPT answer also shows the searches behind it.
- Coverage depends on what was captured. The list does not show every hidden search.
