How does Depra choose competitors?

Where competitor suggestions come from, how many you can track, and when a new competitor gets scores.

Updated 15 Sept 2026 · 2 min read

Depra suggests likely competitors at signup, and you decide which ones to track. After that, brands that keep appearing in your AI answers but that you do not track show up as one-click competitor suggestions.

Where do competitor suggestions come from?

  • At signup: Depra drafts a brand profile from your website for you to correct, then proposes likely competitors. You keep, remove or add names.
  • From your stored answers: a brand named in at least 2 of your answers that you do not track appears under 'Brands AI keeps naming that you don't track'. One click adds it as a competitor.
  • Dismissed suggestions: if you dismiss a brand, it stays dismissed.

How many competitors can I track?

Competitors per project on each Depra plan
PlanPrice a monthCompetitors per project
Starter₹1,9993
Growth₹7,49910
Scale₹12,49915
Enterprise₹25,00020
Prices exclude 18% GST. Your own brand does not count towards the limit. See Depra pricing.

When does a new competitor get scores?

A competitor is scored only on answers collected after you start tracking it, so its numbers build up from the next check onward. Every competitor is measured on the same questions as you, and ranked next to you on visibility, position and sentiment. See how AI visibility is calculated.

If AI names a competitor and leaves you out, citation gap analysis lists the websites that name them and never you, and why ChatGPT doesn't mention your brand covers the common causes.
